Tuesday 20th – Edge Economics Executive Briefing

Executive Briefings

It is easy to get wrapped up in the seemingly endless range of edge computing use cases and lose sight of the economics that underpin their commercial prospects. These economics can vary dramatically with what seem to be minor changes in performance criteria and are heavily influenced by economies of scale and the architecture and performance of the edge computing equipment that is deployed. This session will investigate the economics of edge computing with emphasis towards:

  • Key factors that impact the economics for edge computing and how these are likely to change as the market matures
  • Quantifying the economic impact of key performance indicators, such as latency. For example, how much does 1ms service latency really cost?
  • Identifying strategies for stakeholders to optimize the economics of their edge computing initiatives, and;
  • Future developments that have the potential to dramatically impact edge computing economics.Economics of Edge Computing Session Description
