Shaping the Future of the Edge: Our Edge Woman of the Year Judging Panel Pt3
This week, we’re highlighting another three of the talented women serving on the 2020 Judges Panel for the Edge Woman of the Year Award. The State of the Edge and Edge Computing World present the second annual award this fall at Edge Computing World to continue to recognize and promote the diversity of talent working to shape the future of edge computing.

Michelle Davis, Manager, DoD/IC Specialist SA team, Red Hat
Architect, Federal Division, Red Hat. Michelle has spent the last 20+ years designing and developing enterprise distributed architectures for businesses in the US,
Government and abroad. In her present position, she not only architects cloud-native or hybrid cloud architectures, but she also provides guidance on the digital
transformation journey in this ever changing landscape – edge, AI/ML, IoT, etc
Michelle has been evangelizing and consulting around the beltway about cloud, (micro) service oriented architectures and obliging technologies which include, but
are not limited to, web, webservices, Kubernetes, Docker .NET, JMS, JEE and EAI. Her Red Hat performance includes being Public Sector Architect of the Year 2 years in a row and her nomination into the elite Chairmans community. Prior to joining Red Hat, Michelle dedicated her time to Progress Software, IONA, AT&T, IBM, Unify, and others. She holds a Masters and Bachelors degree in Computer Science from John Hopkins University and Drexel University.
Samantha Clarke, Director of Business Development, Seagate Technology
Samantha Clarke leads Seagate’s Growth Verticals, breaking new ground and driving technology adoption in Edge verticals.
She has a long experience working for startups and enterprises, helping launch new products into Cloud and HPC. She has a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Carolina Milanesi, Founder, The Heart of Tech
Carolina has been a technology analyst for most of her adult life. With a career spanning two decades, three companies and two continents, she has helped top hardware and services vendors with their product planning, go to market and messaging.
She spent 14 years at Gartner, most recently as their Consumer Devices Research VP. In this role, she spent most of her time advising clients from invest firms, to technology providers, to traditional enterprise clients. In 2011 Carolina was recognized with the Gartner Annual Global Award, which is given to the individual who has contributed to research in the most extraordinary way.
In 2013, Carolina became Chief of Research at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech where she drove thought leadership research by marrying my deep understanding of global market dynamics with the wealth of data coming from ComTech’s longitudinal studies on smartphones and tablets.
In 2016, she joined Creative Strategies as a Principal Analyst. There sge focus on a broad range of consumer technologies and services including those that have a deep impact on user behavior in an enterprise context. Carolina’s interest in user engagement and user experience drove me to increasingly spend time analyzing the future of work and employee engagement especially as it relates to collaboration and workflows.
Carolina is a regular contributor to Tech.pinions, Forbes, FastCompany and the Italian’s Daily La Stampa. She is often quoted as an industry expert and commentator in publications such as The Financial Times, Bloomberg, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. She regularly appear on BBC, Bloomberg TV, NBC News, and others, and her twitter account was recently listed in the “101 accounts to follow to make Twitter more interesting” by Wired Italy.
